Although the start of winter marks the beginning of cozy nights by the fire, bundled in blankets while sipping hot chocolate (sigh), it’s also the start of months of uncertainty: Will it snow or won’t it? Will school be canceled or just delayed? Will the roads freeze over? Will the power go out? You get it.

That’s why it soothed our nervous hearts to see that the experts at TIME analyzed the forecasts for the upcoming season. The general overview: Residents of the Northeast will not have to weather the wintry storms they endured last year, and Californians will be subject to lots of rain, “but not enough to resolve the state’s drought,” TIME reports.   (From Country Living Magazine)
